Ash Abdou - Lilyroo Ride

Ash Abdou is a long-time SKCC member, as well as Director of Learning (Years 6-8) at St Michael’s Grammar School in St Kilda. You’ll normally see him at the Crits or on Beach Road in his black and green TFM kit.

He is taking on a special challenge – the Lilyroo Ride – in memory of Lily, the daughter of his colleague, Kristie Lockyer. Lily was born in March last year at 23 weeks, and due to complications from her premature birth, her parents Kristie and Pete made the heart-rending decision to say farewell to their little girl. Lily passed away, one day old, at the Royal Women’s Newborn and Intensive Special Care (NISC) unit.

Ash will be cycling from Adelaide to Melbourne (1,156km) in 7 days (from April 5 to 11) in memory of Lily, and in support of the Lilyroo Fund, which Kristie and Pete Lockyer established in March 2014 to celebrate the short but perfect life of their daughter Lily, and to support the work of the Royal Women’s NISC unit.  http://lilyroo.org/the-ride/. They have done an amazing job securing certification from Cycling Australia and support from a number of notable sponsors.

He is seeking your support to promote the ride, and its support for the Royal Women’s NISC unit, which supports premature babies.

“During the ride, I’ll be uploading ride data to Strava – https://app.strava.com/athletes/166162?utm_source=top-nav – so people can follow the ride.”

Good luck and thanks Ash; we’re all behind you!
