Current World Champion Rui Costa is said to be disappointed he’s not an SKCC member so he can’t race the big SKCC Road Champs on the 31st.
The SKCC Road Club Championships are back and are going to be bigger and better than ever this year. Lock in Sunday 31st August now because this is going to be another classic SKCC event not to be missed.
We are going to be racing on an all new course at Sutherlands Creek that will have something for everyone, We’re not going into the high mountains so you don’t have to be 46 kgs like Matty Lloyd or Nairo Quintana but it’s not going to be flat so you don’t have to be Marcel Kittel or Mark Cavendish either. With this new course everyone’s a chance to take the coveted prize.
It wouldn’t be SKCC if we didn’t have a party at the end of it. There will be a BBQ and wait for it – Wine tasting. We will be setting up the BBQ at the Austin Winery and they will be providing sample wines to enjoy.
We will be trialling a new race format, which we are currently finalising. So what’s listed below may be tweaked slightly before the big day but we’ll let you know.
Men’s Open (106km) – 4 Laps Steiglitz Loop + Route out & back
Men’s Masters 2/3 (85km) – 3 laps Steiglitz loop + Route out & back
Men’s Masters 4/5 (85km) – 3 laps Steiglitz Loop + Route out & back
Men’s Masters 6+ (64km) – 2 laps Steiglitz Loop + Route out & back
Women’s Open (85km) – 3 laps Steiglitz Loop + Route out & back
Women’s Masters 2/3 (64km) – 2 laps Steiglitz Loop + Route out & back
Women’s Masters 4/5 (64km) – 2 lap Steiglitz loop + route out & back
U17 boys (64km) – 2 laps Steiglitz Loop + Route out & back
U15, U13 Juniors to be advised once entries received.
Key change to note:
- You now choose which title you wish to contest. You can choose to take a crack at “the big one” OR whichever age category you’re eligible for.
