Last Sunday SKCC Women celebrated the four year anniversary of the formation of the SKCC Women’s Committee with their annual breakfast.
This year the breakfast was held at the Elwood & St Kilda Neighbourhood Learning Centre in Tennyson St, preceded by a social paced ride.
New members and long term members rubbed shoulders and enjoyed a feast of fruit toasts, muesli, pastries & fresh fruit, with catering provided by a hard working team of SKCC volunteers.
The morning’s formalities opened with SKCC member Jenny MacPherson presenting SKCC Women’s Committee members Gaelene Snelling & Lisa Byrne with the National Bicycling Achievement award that SKCC won in Canberra last week for it’s success in increasing Women’s participation in Cycling. Jenny was instrumental in nominating SKCC for this award.

Gaelene & Lisa then gave a quick recap of the year that has been, how the Women’s program has been improved, and what they have planned for the coming year. This was followed by guest speaker Rob Crowe, a born showman who entertained the crowd with his stories. Thank you Rob !
In between the formalities there were quiz questions interspersed with door prize draws.
Many many thanks to the following SKCC members who donated vouchers from their businesses for our door prizes:
Ingrid Trotter (Makeup by Ingrid)
Erica Knight (Genki Pilates + Fitness)
Louise Roche (Cycling Sports – (cycling apparel))
Pat Fitzpatrick (Ride International – MTB Skills coaching)
Also thanks to Lisa Flaherty (SKCC Social Director) for MC’ing the morning and to those ladies who helped with setting up and cleaning up at the venue. It wouldn’t have been possible without you!
