Learn the art of Criterium racing and advanced bike handling with Olympian Rob Crowe and his Ridewiser/SKCC mentors in the third and final skills session for the 2011/12 season.  The Velobourne-GIANT team, sponsored by GIANT Bikes and led by Danny Cohen, will give their time to mentor during this session.
 
Participants will cover the following major skills drills in February Latte Laps:
Drill #1. GROUPS – Bunch Riding Etiquette (protecting & taking a wheel)
Drill #2. CORNERING – Rolling onto the wheel
Drill #3. SPRINTING – Coming off the wheel

Where: SKCC Criterium circuit – White St, South Melbourne. Melways Ref 2EF11
Registration: opens at 6:15am and closes at 6:45am sharp.
Session duration: 6:45am to 7:45am
Who can participate? Any male or female with a road bike. You don’t have to be a SKCC member to participate. (No tri-bars, flat bar handlebars or mountain bikes). Experience at racing is not necessary.

Licence/Insurance Requirements for Latte Laps: You will need ONE of the following:
– a full Competitive Licence OR
– a Recreational Licence OR
– a 3 race permit (purchased on the day) OR
– a day licence (purchased on the day).

Can I race afterwards?  Yes, you will need ONE of the following:
– a full Competitive Licence OR
– a 3 race permit (purchased on the day) OR
– a day licence (purchased on the day).
 
Please note that E Grade is a mixed novice grade, so, if you have not raced before, this is a good Grade to start in. Women can also choose to race in Women’s C grade if preferred.
 
Session Cost: Latte Lap Sessions are FREE of charge, however, there is a race entry fee to race in E Grade or Women’s C Grade.  SKCC members receive a complimentary coffee after the session.

What do I need to bring? Road bike, Helmet, Water bottle, Money, Current CSV Licence (where applicable).

Session Format:
Rob Crowe will start with a 15 minute overview of the session. The individual groups will then break out and commence the first 10 minute drill. A short Q&A session will be conducted before the next drill commences. It is anticipated that there will be three drills over the 45 minute session.
