What do you get when you take 20-25 SKCC club members on a solid Ridewiser winter road course on a perfectly sunny winter day over 2 laps of Arthur’s Seat CAT 1? Well ‘WOW’ doesn’t really cover it! There wasn’t much change left over from the fully carbo-loaded, D-Grade trained road-rider engines by midday, Saturday June 2nd.

The bunch made it together over Two Bays, along Derril ‘Horsepower’ Rd to Bentons Rd, and up Tubbarubba CAT 1 through to Red Hill before breaking into 4 groups of 5. The popular ‘back-way’ route put out some smiles along Arthur’s Seat ridge road before meeting on the summit for a descending & climbing ‘smarts’ talk with Rob Crowe SKCC ClubPRO ride leader. With Matt ‘Mental Man’ Mentlikowski and Sam ‘SRAM’ Watson doing great work as support instructors for the day, the Ridewiser team had skills, drills, photos and escort climbing roles covered.

A social coffee re-group in Dromana and then, with all the gusto and passion that normally comes in a D Grade version ride at SKCC, the group made like a 2 x 2 pack and headed back via Mornington to knock over the 92km Ridewiser Two Arthur’s road course at an average over 26kph.

Last running of 2012 Arthur’s Seat rides will be the E Grade / Women’s version now scheduled for June 16th – get on it!
