The Australian Road Nationals are on again in Ballarat from January 3-7.  We’re doing a call out for people interested in competing in either or both of the team time trial and club criterium.  The team time trial is planned to be on Thursday 4th January whilst the criterium is on Friday 5th January.  St Kilda generally sponsors teams of four to take part and race against the clock and other teams.

If you haven’t done this before clubs from around the country head to Ballarat in a club competition to see who are the fastest and strongest in either a team time trial or a criterium.  The time trial takes place on the same course used by the elite riders later in the day whilst the club criterium are run on the main streets of Ballarat.

As you can see we had great fun in 2023 and as it is likely to be the last year in Ballarat and Buninyong lets see how many teams we can get.  You don’t have to have a race license to compete in the team time trial, just three other team members.

Teams are categorised by the cumulative age of the youngest three riders and are put into categories of 90+, 120+, 150+, 180+ and open.  Plus if you do win your category you may just come away with a gold medal and an Australian National Jersey (note that these shouldn’t be worn in any subsequent races).

Also we’re doing a shoutout for anyone that would like to help with organising the teams and the days.  If you would like to be involved please contact Will Gielewski.
