COMPETITIVE (OPEN) LICENCE
An Open Licence enables participation by a licence holder in any Cycling Australia (CA) sanctioned event conducted by CA or any of its affiliated State Federations or clubs.  It also provides eligibility to compete in Australian Championships, represent Australia or apply for an International Licence.

Step 1 - Work out your age category.  Look up your year of birth to determine your category – 2011 Licence Categories.

Please note, Masters-aged riders holding an Elite licence can now compete in any elite open and championship events in their respective Masters category in the same year. Refer to vic.cycling.org.au for further information.

Step 3 – Download and complete the 2011 Cycling Australia Membership Application form.

NON-COMPETITIVE LICENCES:  CYCLING FOR ALL (was RECREATIONAL)
This licence allows cyclists to participate in events run by clubs or promoters for the sole purpose of just having a ride.  The licence also covers the cyclist for 12 months public liability insurance which includes training and coffee shop rides.  The licence costs $115 ($70 for the licence + $45 SKCC club fee).

OTHER CATEGORIES:

Day Permit
Temporary membership from start to finish of 1 event.  It is restricted to Club-only events e.g. criterium at Port Melbourne.  The cost is $40 and can only be purchased on the day.

3-Ride Permit
Temporary membership from start to finish of 3 events.  It is restricted to Club-only events (e.g. Criteriums at Port Melbourne) but can be used to upgrade to a full licence after the 3rd event.  The cost is $55 and can only be purchased on the day. This amount will be deducted from a full licence fee when upgrading. Please note that if you upgrade to a racing licence you must send the original  3 Ride Permit in with your application.
